The Vietnamese manufacturer, VinFast has officially started its manufacturing operations in India by rolling out the first vehicle from their in-house manufacturing assembly unit in Thootukudi, located in Tamil Nadu. The VF7 from Vinfast is the very first automobile to roll off the production line.
The car manufacturer will additionally manufacture the VF6 at the same location, as both cars are projected to be released at the end of this month. Pre-bookings for the VF6 and VF7 started on July 15 across the nation.
VinFast India Assembly Plant Details
The in-house assembly unit in Thootukudi is expanded over an area of 400 acres and also incorporates various facilities such as body shop, a paint shop, assembly shop, and a dedicated quality control center, with an exclusive logistics hub.
According to VinFast, the factory has an initial capacity of producing 50,000 units annually, which can be expanded up to 1.50 lakh units, depending on the particular demand from the consumers. The company also addresses that at the full capacity, the plant will be recruiting 3,000-3,500 workers.
The future vision of VinFast is to fully develop their Tamil Nadu factory to its maximum capacity and to set up an export base for exporting cars to various countries like South Africa, Middle East, and Africa.
Vinfast India Launches its Second Showroom in Chennai
As the launch date is near, VinFast is ramping up their networks as they have recently inaugurated their second showroom in Chennai at Teynampet, ahead of its launch at the end of August. The company’s first showroom was launched at Surat. As per size and dimensions, the Chennai Showroom is much bigger of the two, which is spread across the area of 4,700 sq. ft.
VinFast has defined this showroom as their flagship experience center, specifically for consumers for their first interaction with VF7 and VF6. This showroom will be managed by Maansarover Motors, which is an established dealer group.
Vinfast Detailed Strategies for Indian Market
STRATEGY 1: Talking about the facilities of this flagship showroom, it will include a big lounge area, digital screens for customers to analyse more about the company’s cars, an exclusive delivery area, followed by the charging and service station.
STRATEGY 2: As per Vinfast, their vision is to open 35 dealerships across 27 cities by the end of this year, thus fully establishing themselves in the roots of the Indian market.
STRATEGY 3: The company is targeting Tier I cities to establish their flagship experience centers like the ones located in Chennai, while the Tier II and Tier III cities will have smaller showrooms, optimised accordingly by saving costs and enhancing the reach across various districts of small cities, which will result in a significant increase of reach.
Charging and Service Network
VinFast is also actively working in the area of enhancing their charging infrastructure by developing a seamless EV ecosystem. It has partnered with various brands such as RoadGrid, which will be helping the consumers to locate the nearest fast-charging stations across cities and highways. They have collaborated with myTVS to establish a network for post-sales services.
VinFast has also teamed up with BatX Energies, which is an Indian clean-tech company working in the field of battery recycling.
