Ravindra Energy Limited (REL) has stated that its self owned subsidiary company called as Energy in Motion Private Limited (EIM) which manufactures electric tractors and related battery-swapping infrastructure by its service model, has garnered the CMVR Type Approval Certificate (TAC) from the recognised Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), followed by the necessary approvals by the VAHAN portal.

These approvals ensure that commercial sale and registration of 55-Ton electric tractor, “Ashwa” is valid. EIM has also successfully completed the first sale of the Ashwa Electric tractor, which will be India’s first exclusive battery-swappable, CMVR-certified 55-Ton electric tractor.

The Vice Chairman of Ravindra Energy, Mr Narendra Murkumbi, expressed his views on the development of the country’s first electric tractor, and said, “The ARAI certification and first commercial sale of Ashwa is a testament to the iconic journey towards the country’s sustainable freight transportation.

This has been achieved after years of R&D by our specific technology partners Foton Motors, who had been undergoing rigorous tests in India, by maintaining strong partnerships with regulatory authorities.

We are proud that we are the key players of India’s green energy transition of heavy transport and this achievement will be igniting our presence internationally across the global logistic corridors. The Ashwa is not just a vehicle, but a revolutionary vision towards a greener logistics future.”
