Ather scooters now feature voice command capabilities.
Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta has confirmed via social media that the company has finally mainstreamed ‘Voice on Ather’ feature to all Gen 3 and above customers. This was first announced at Ather Community Day 2025 as a part of AtherStack 7 update. This voice assist feature helps the rider to interact with their scooter using natural command language, such as Google Assistant.
Voice on Ather: What can it do?
The ‘Voice on Ather’ functionality is basically a large language model (LLM) which is designed to understand Indian accents and dialects, which ensures the riders to have natural conversation commands instead of fixed english prompts.
AdvertisementThis feature comes with navigation, vehicle settings, calls & notifications, and media controls. This means riders can ask questions like “How far is the nearest charger?’ or “What’s the ETA to work?”. Users can also adjust vehicle settings via voice commands like “Change traction control to Rain” or “Increase screen brightness”.

This system can also integrate seamlessly with Ather Halo smart helmet via bluetooth headset. This means riders can use third party apps like Sena or Cardo intercoms, while retaining the same functionality.
Tarun Mehta also revealed that the next stage of development will be making the natural conversation two-way, which involves allowing the scooter to converse with the rider instead of only responding to commands. This aligns with the Ather’s previously displayed AtherStack 7 roadmap, which included voice-based alerts for potholes ahead, ParkSafe notifications and tyre pressure warnings.
The Voice on Ather is now available on 450X, 450 Apex, and Rizta S running on Gen 3 hardwares. However, this is not available on 450S or Rizta S. The consumers have already begun reporting that this feature is available via an OTA update.
