BYD Seal U: Launch Date & Expected Price
BYD has confirmed that their first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Seal U will be launched in India by the end of 2026. It will also be the country’s first mass-market accessible plug-in hybrid model to come with BYD’s advanced DM-i hybrid technology. The Seal U will feature Dual Mode Intelligent Tech DM-i paired with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine and two electric motors with an 18.3 kWh battery pack.
RANGE: Together, this setup is expected to boast a class-leading range of over 1,200 Km, with a purely electric range of 200 km available as well. Once launched, the Seal U will enjoy monopoly and could compete with the upcoming Jetour T2 PHEV.

The BYD Seal U (Also known as Sealion 6 in International markets) is expected to launch in India with an estimated price range between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The 18.3 kWh battery will also support both AC and DC charging. In global markets like Europe, BYD claims DC charging from 30-80% in just 35 minutes.

The BYD Seal U will come with plenty of features such as 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, powered front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, Infinity premium audio system, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which allows the vehicle to become a power source to charge external devices.
The upcoming Seal U will also feature an ADAS suite that will include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, rear-cross traffic alert and a 360-Degree camera.
The Seal U also measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. Dimension-wise, it is exactly similar to the Mahindra XEV 9e and comes with a 425 litre boot space, which is further expandable up to 1,440 litres in order to accommodate more space.
