Jaguar Type 01 EV: The 1,000 HP Luxury Electric GT Rebirthing a Legend 

With the rising demand for a genuine luxury electric GT, this upcoming Jaguar electric vehicle will mark the brand's inaugural electric entry, stepping into a new realm and redefining the brand’s legacy. As per Jaguar, they have done a lot of R&D for Type 01. 

Jaguar has completely shut down their conventional combustion engine manufacturing and the I-Pace retired. The Type 01 marks the starting of the brand's new lineup of electric cars. It is one of the most awaited launches since the legendary XK120 in the late 1940s. The “0” name stands for zero emissions and “1” marks the first step into entirely new mobility. 

Jaguar Type 01 Specs & Power 

POWER: Jaguar has heavily camouflaged its prototype, but the real strength lies in its mechanics. The Type 01 generates a staggering 1,000 HP of maximum power via its three electric motors, and comes powered by a 120 kWh battery pack.

However, the GT is not only about raw acceleration. The power delivery is quite progressive, offering a seamless surge of power rather than uneven launch. The prototype rides on massive 23-inch wheels, and the suspension is just incredible, handling the sharp potholes with ease by restricting the wind noise. 

Jaguar Type 01 Polarising Design 

Visually, it retains the legendary Jaguar styling with a significant 3.2-meter wheelbase, a long bonnet, and a sweeping coupe-like roofline. The Type 01 features the monolithic polarising styling of the 00 Concept, as by implementing this move, Jaguar knows it can cause debates. 

However, the prototype has tiny rear windows, all thanks to sloping roofline. However, this could be a downside to sell the car in global markets, specifically where luxury cars are majorly chauffeur driven. 

Jaguar Type 01 Launch 

Jaguar is expected to showcase the Type 01 in October in New York City. Now it will be interesting to see whether Jaguar’s electric-only strategy works with the Type 01 or not.
