MG ZS EV Ownership Review: Real Range, Battery Health, Service & Truth
The ZS EV is the first electric car launched by MG Motors in the Indian EV market. Our AllAboutEVs team had a talk with the owner of the ZS EV as he shared his 70,000 km experience with the electric SUV and gave an overview of the ZS EV Range stats and charging cost in India with battery health, maintenance cost, and charging experience.

The owner shares his driving history as how he was facing several issues on the DSG gearbox in his Volkswagen Vento TSI, and decided to shift to the 2022 MG ZS EV Exclusive variant.
However, the owner notes some initial details, as he didn’t like the panoramic sunroof because it was useless according to him, as the sunlight is quite harsh in Chennai, which just makes the experience even more cumbersome.

MG ZS EV Real-World Range Details

Secret Strategy: The owner also told his strategy of his unlimited journeys as before starting the trip he used to do smart route planning by using apps like PlugShare app and utilizing dependable networks like Zeon chargers. However, he also said that highway charging had several issues with random power cuts, but delays were not more than an hour or two.

MG ZS EV Battery Health
The owner has been using the ZS EV for around 4 years and we asked about the battery performance and range. After running more than 70,000 km on the Indian roads, the battery’s State of Health (SoH) stands exceptionally well at an impressive 95% SOH. This signifies that there is no massive degradation and no panic replacements.
The car also provides a real world range of 320 Km on a single charge comfortably.
MG ZS EV Service Costs & Maintenance
The owner transitioned to the electric car from a turbo-petrol engine and that’s why the owner was extremely surprised to see the maintenance costs which were bare minimum. The estimated service bill for the massive 70,000 Km was shockingly low at Rs 3,000.
If we talk about the mechanical wear and tear, the owner reported that it was astonishingly low.

MG ZS EV Cons & The Final Verdict
Cons: On the other hand, no car is perfect. The owner noted various cons with the car, such as a mysterious rattling sound that would often come while cruising at around 100 km/hr. But the perfect solution is to just switch on the music system and the noise completely fades into the background.

However, the 70,000 Km journey of the owner with his MG ZS EV was just awesome and exceptionally fresh as new leaving no scope of heavy depreciation visible in the petrol counterpart.
