Recently a camouflaged SUV had been spotted testing on Indian roads that has a strong resemblance to the much-awaited Tata Avinya X. The test version had a MH numberplate, adding a strong speculation to be the first car positioned under Tata’s premium electric lineup.

However, the exact prototype’s real identity cannot be confirmed as it was heavily camouflaged. But looking at the design cues, it features a coupe-like silhouette and LED lighting elements that indicates that it could be a Tata model seen in the video.

This sighting has emerged when Tata is redesigning its Avinya program by underpinning it under a completely new engineered platform as a part of its long-term premium EV strategy

New Test Version Spotted

This prototype is spotted in a recently released video gaining attention from social media. However, we get a basic understanding about the overall design of the SUV. It includes a sloping roofline, which gives it a sporty coupe like look, along with the addition of new LED headlamps at the front.

Looking at the teaser video, the vehicle also seems to feature connected DRLs both at the front and rear which is designed as per Tata’s recent design language. Other design changes comprise dual-tone diamond cut alloy-wheels and smooth body surfacing.

Most of the bodywork was not visible due to the heavy camouflage, so a complete analysis of the design is not possible. However, by looking at the test version at a glance, it appears to be a Tata product, although confirmation will come at the launch.

Manufacturing & Expected Launch

Tata Motors has stated that the Avinya X will be underpinned by Jaguar Land Rover’s Electric Modular Architecture, also known as EMA. This switch will lead to lower development costs as Tata speeds up the launch process for its first premium electric SUV.

However, the Avinya models are expected to be manufactured at the brand’s new facility in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. Tata will be developing the plant as a key strategy of its EV plans as in future it could support manufacturing with JLR. As per reports, the first Avinya vehicle is expected to debut in the Indian markets in 2027.
