Tata Launches India’s Biggest Electric Truck Lineup: Ultra & Prima Series

Tata Motors has introduced the country’s biggest lineup of commercial electric trucks, which is specifically developed to cater for last-mile delivery to commercial heavy-duty mining. The new fleet is not just about electrification, but it is a revolution towards electrifying logistics and how innovative engineering is designed to meet the diverse needs of India's rising economy. 

Tata’s Ultra Series

The Ultra series is specially designed to fulfill the needs of city logistics, which comprises E.7, E.9, and E.12 models. These trucks are developed for high-frequency stop and go operations such as Amazon deliveries and FMCG distribution. 

• Zero Emissions: It is ideal for the city as it produces zero tail-pipe emissions. 
• Efficiency: It produces less noise and has lower running costs as compared to diesel powertrains. 
• Performance: Decent range and several payload options, fulfilling the needs of urban usage. 

Heavy-Duty Power: Prima E.28K

Tata has introduced a heavy commercial segment, called the Prima E.28K, which will be focussed towards construction and mining activities. 

• Stability: The battery is attached beneath the chassis, which provides a lower center of gravity and better high-speed stability on rough roads. 
• Productivity: This heavy-duty truck comes with various features such as dual fast charging and minimizing downtime and increasing profit for operators.

The Boss Level: Prima E.55S

The Prima E.55S is positioned as a flagship commercial truck in the Tata’s lineup, which is often described as “Boss Level”. It is a big 55-tonne tractor-trailer, which is developed for long-haul travel. 

• Massive Power: It comes powered with a 450+ kWh battery pack, and has enough range for inter-city travel. 
• Innovate Tech: It comes with a direct e-Axle, thus removing the conventional propeller shaft and gearbox. This automatic transmission setup leads to low-cost maintenance, and results in less driver fatigue.

This launch marks the company’s journey towards achieving the vision of Net Zero emissions by 2045. It provides a complete range of EVs, ranging from ultra light electric trucks to heavy-duty Prima for long-haul mobility solutions, ensuring a development of India’s electric future.
