Ather Energy has recently released a teaser of its highly anticipated electric scooter, the Konarc, showcasing its metal body panels, which just suggests that the family scooter will get a completely different construction from its existing scooters. 

This has been recently confirmed through a viral social media video which features CEO of Ather, Tarun Mehta. However, it is not confirmed whether the scooter will use metal or only on selected panels.

Ather Konarc: What’s New? 

The Konarc is all set to be launched on August 29 at the Ather Community Day organised in Bengaluru. The latest teaser provides a glimpse of Konarc’s body construction. The teased video showcases the scooter's body panels by using magnets to it, which indicates the use of magnetic metal material to make it robust yet sturdy for everyday driving. 

However, Ather has not certified whether they will be fitting every body panel with metal. However, if it is true, then it is a welcome move as in this segment, the plastic and composite panels are commonly used in order to keep the weight of the electric scooter in check. 

The metal construction has been traditionally considered as robust for scooters. For reference, Honda has used metal body panels on Activa that made it built a goodwill around reliability and robustness. The Chetak also utilises metal body panels, thus providing inspiration to Ather for providing metal bodywork on their upcoming electric scooters. 

However, one of the major concerns is added weight, as metal body panels add extra weight as compared to fibre, which could make the family-electric scooter quite cumbersome to maneuver. Thus the kerb weight is very important for scooters used for everyday driving, as it requires the riders to move the scooters manually or handle it in tight parking spots.
