Bentley Torcal Teased: A Century-Old Diamond Detail Reimagined

Bentley Motors has teased its upcoming electric car, the Torcal, and has given a stunning glimpse into the future by revealing the latest teaser of the all-new Torcal. The teaser also showcased how the brand honoured its roots while designing their modern luxury electric car.

The Diamond Pattern

In terms of design, the Bentley’s design team exactly knows where they needed to start by retaining their signature iconic diamond pattern. The teaser also confirmed that they will be retaining their quilted leather seats to their architectural engravings for generations. 

The team has also used computer-generated animations in order to replicate the diamonds for the Torcal’s new digital interfaces. And it looks technically well made, but also feels quite artificial. 

Craftsmanship Meets the Digital Screen 

In order to implement the true essence of the brand, Bentley has jointly partnered with Cumbria Crystal in the English Lake District. Thus instead of depending on the pixels, they are experimenting with physical hand-cut, hand-edged glass. 

As the light passes through these real crystals, it creates natural vibrations that can be easily recognised by human eyes. Bentley has captured this authentic movement so perfectly that it felt so real even on the digital screen.   

The teaser also stated that in the modern era, it isn’t a battle of analog versus digital, but it's more about preserving the hand-crafted precision that defines the brand.
