Energy In Motion Launches Heavy-Duty Battery Swapping and Charging Hub in Rewari, Haryana.

Energy in Motion Ltd. (EIM) has started a heavy-duty battery swapping-cum-charging station in Rewari, Haryana, as part of its infrastructure network specifically for electric freight vehicles along the NH-48 Delhi-Mumbai corridor. 

The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, in the presence of representatives from Dalmia Cement, UltraTech Cement, Drivn, and Energy in Motion, along with various commercial fleet operators, transporters, financiers and other industry participants. 

Energy in Motion Heavy-Duty Battery Hub Details 

The Rewari station comes included with EIM’s existing, heavy-duty swapping-cum-charging facilities at Palwal and Kotputli at NH-48. The company has also stated that each station has a connected load of 2.5 MW. 

This developed infrastructure will support the electric heavy commercial vehicles currently running through various freight routes. As per EIM’s battery-swapping model, a depleted battery vehicle can be exchanged for a charged battery instead of waiting for the vehicle to be fully-charged. 

The EIM Managing Director Narendra Murkumbi has stated that the Rewari facility can successfully complete a battery swap for an electric heavy commercial vehicle (e-HCV) in around seven minutes, as compared to 55-60 minutes for traditional charging. The station has a capacity of serving 150 vehicles per day. 

As per EIM, its 350 kWh battery-swapping system is capable of increasing monthly return trips by 10%. The company is also planning to establish 40 swapping-cum-charging stations across the country this financial year, with eight operational and seven under installation. 

EIM also provides its Maitryi Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which can reduce the upfront costs of heavy-duty commercial trucks by 40%.
