Hyundai HE1i Compact EV spotted testing on Indian roads.

Hyundai He1i was recently spotted testing on the Indian roads in a heavily camouflaged version. It will be also underpinned by the brand's new EV platform and will be featuring a boxy and quirky design, taking inspiration from international EV models such as the Inster. Let’s understand the highlights of the spy shot in detail. 

Hyundai HE1i Electric SUV Expected Design 

Visually, the upcoming electric SUV will get a boxy side profile with a tall stance, which suggests an airy cabin and spacious interiors. The test version was heavily camouflaged, but certain styling cues were spotted. 

These include sharkfin antennae, large alloy wheels featuring a set of quirky aero wheels and tall roof rails, which gives a solid road presence. Additionally, there is also an inclusion of bulbous nose, with LED DRLs on top, coming with dual-pod LED headlamps placed lower down on the bumper.

Hyundai is known for its features and we can expect the electric SUV to be feature loaded.  

• It will come with advanced technology like dual screens for the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated front and rear seats. 
• It will also get multiple wireless phone chargers, connected car-tech, dual-zone climate control and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. 
• Safety features include ADAS suite, multiple airbags and comprehensive active safety suite with all sorts of driver assist.

Hyundai HE1i Expected Launch in India

Hyundai is expected to launch this new compact electric SUV at the end of 2026, and it will be positioned below the Creta Electric. It is also expected in the price range of Rs 10 Lakh to Rs 15 Lakh (Ex-Showroom), and will be going against the likes of Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Syros EV and MG Windsor EV. 

BATTERY: The company has not revealed the exact technical specs of the HE1i, it is expected to come with two battery pack options, providing a claimed range of more than 500 Km, with DC fast charging capabilities as well.
