Mercedes India unveils the CLA Electric, boasting a WLTP range of 792km.

Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps from their much awaited CLA electric sedan in the Indian market. Mercedes will start accepting the pre-bookings from March 10, followed by a launch scheduled in April. The new CLA will replace the entry-level ICE powered A-Class Limousine, as well as the EQA and EQB EVs, in the brand’s portfolio of entry-level electric cars.

Expect the prices of the CLA Electric sedan to be in the range of Rs 55-60 Lakh (Ex-Showroom).

The upcoming CLA EV will be underpinned by a 800-Volt electric architecture, with its base model equipped with a 85 kWh battery pack will be sold in India with a claimed WLTP range of 792 km on a single charge. 

Mercedes has stated that this strong range is due to CLA Electric’s 93% drivetrain efficiency, all thanks to its aerodynamic design and optimised energy distribution. Mercedes will be also integrating a two-speed gearbox which is also seen on models like Porsche Taycan. 

POWER: The rear electric motor generates a maximum power output of 272 HP, accelerating the CLA 250+ to sprint from 0-100 km/hr in just 6.7 seconds. It will also support high-speed DC fast charging of speeds of up to 240 kW, with the company claiming a 400 km of range addition in just 20 minutes of fast charging in ideal conditions.

The new CLA highlights the Mercedes’s three-pointed Star Logo in its lighting elements. The headlights, tail-lights and the sealed-off grille also feature a signature star motif with 142 small backlit stars. It is also equipped with small air inlets that guide airflow smoothly around the corners of the car. 

The side profile comes with a sleek yet a couple like silhouette with flush type door handles and 18-inch wheels. There is also an inclusion of a large panoramic glass roof integrated with a heat-protective coating ideal for hotter climates. The detailed dimensions are mentioned below.
