Mini Cooper SE Electric Real-World Range Test Explained

The Mini Cooper SE is the only electric hatchback for sale in India by the brand and comes powered with a 32.6 kWh battery pack generating 184 PS of maximum power output. We recently had a talk with the owner of the Mini Cooper SE in order to know the real-world range he is able to extract with the electric hatchback.

According to the user, the Mini Cooper SE provided a real-world range between 220-230 km in mixed driving conditions. During the range test, the owner switched to the default Mid setting and the A/C was on with regen setting on high. Our test included heavy traffic conditions and moderate traffic while cruising on the highways.

Mini Cooper SE Range Test (100% to 0%)

At the start of the range test, the owner told us that initially the range went up from 138 Km to 143 Km, as the battery went down to 90% SOC. From here the battery range consistently decreased and upon full utilization, provided us a real-world range of 225.7 Km. 

When the battery was under 5% SOC, the charging notification popped out, restricting the AC performance. The MID also stopped showing the range under 5 Km. To summarise, the owner achieved a real-world range of 225.7 Km, which is way down from the claimed range of 270 km. 

However, the Cooper SE strikes a perfect balance between an ideal city car and performance with decent range, which makes the owner satisfied about his purchase. The EV can go from 0-100 km/hr in just 7.3 seconds.

However, the user had only one complaint that the infotainment screen didn't show any charging points nearby even when the battery was low. Below we have mentioned Mini Cooper SE Electric claimed range vs real world range figures. 

Mini Cooper SE Charging Experience

The owner generally charges the car via 7.2 kW AC charger and it displays a time of around 4hr 45 mins (285 mins) for a full charge from 0-100%. On the other hand, the Mini Cooper SE also supports fast charging and has the capability of charging from 0-80% in 36 mins via 50 kW rapid DC charger.
