Tata extends Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) across its entire EV Portfolio

Tata Motors has officially extended its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option across its entire passenger EV portfolio, thus reducing the upfront costs and making the EVs more accessible for consumers. Tata now provides BaaS pricing flexibility, ranging from the highly affordable Tiago EV to their flagship Harrier EV. 

What is BaaS Pricing? 

The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing model effectively reduces the higher upfront costs of the battery from the vehicle chassis price. In simple terms, you are only paying for the car and renting the battery separately. 

This helps in reducing the acquisition cost by huge margins, ranging from Rs 2.30 lakh to Rs 7.30 lakh, depending on which model you choose.

• Tiago.ev: Starts at ₹4.69 lakh (Battery usage: ₹2.6/km)
• Punch.ev: Starts at ₹6.59 lakh (Battery usage: ₹2.6/km)
• Nexon.ev: Starts at ₹8.99 lakh (Battery usage: ₹4.4/km)
• Curvv.ev: Starts at ₹10.99 lakh (Battery usage: ₹5.0/km)
• Sierra.ev: Starts at ₹11.99 lakh (Battery usage: ₹5.9/km)
• Harrier.ev: Starts at ₹14.49 lakh (Battery usage: ₹5.9/km)

Financing Features 

The BaaS pricing option is available for all battery sizes ranging from 19 kWh units in the Tiago to a massive 65 kWh in the Harrier EV.

The battery is financed via separate loan agreement with a flexible period of up to 8 years, while the chassis loan remains a standard 5 years. This covers 100% LTV on the battery, which means zero down payment for the power pack itself. Do note that this framework is limited for personal use, keeping commercial buyers out.
