Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt Ltd. an Indian electric powertrain manufacturer has secured an impressive business deal worth US$ 3.2 million annually with a leading Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM). 

Tsuyo EV Motor Supply Agreement

This is a big step towards India’s localised EV manufacturing space and will evolve the market in moving towards an advanced stage. The duration of the comprehensive agreement will be 10 years and will be specifically focussing on the electric three-wheeler segment.

The agreement states that Tsuyo will be responsible for end-to-end operations including continuous motor supply, technical assistance, servicing and after-sales support throughout the vehicle lifespan. 

What Makes This Motor Special? 

Tsuyo has implemented serious engineering to their motors. The agreement includes that Tsuyo will be supplying their exclusive Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motors. 

IPM Motor Technical Specs 

  • HRE-Free Architecture: This electric motor is Heavy Rare Earth (HRE)-free Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). By making it free from heavy rare earth metals, Tsuyo is ensuring that the OEM is free from volatile global supply chain constraints. 
  • High Efficiency: As per Tsuyo, The motor provides a maximum system efficiency of up to 93%, thus providing substantial maximum range for commercial three-wheelers. 
  • Durability and Cooling: It also comes equipped with IPM rotor architecture, Hall Effect feedback, a reliable air-cooling system, and an IP65-certified protection (Connector not included), making it robust for India’s extreme road and weather conditions.

Tsuyo operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida. They also develop electric motors, controllers, and complete powertrain systems ranging from 0.5 kW all the way to heavy-duty commercial 400 kW. 

They develop motors and systems for electric three-wheelers, light to heavy commercial vehicles (LCVs and MHCVs), and even off-road uses.
