BYD's Denza is set to introduce the Z9 GT with over 1000 HP in India.
It's very rare when new brands enter the Indian market, and at the end of this year, the Indian automotive industry is set to have two new companies on board, JSW and Denza. According to various reports, we reported Denza’s interest to enter India, and now we have got some exciting details.
About Denza
Denza first originated in May 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler AG (Now Mercedes-Benz Group AG), as the company announced its brand name ‘Denza’ two years later.
However, since then Mercedes has exited the partnership and in 2022, BYD repositioned the brand and is concentrating its efforts at the higher end of the market.

Product Positioning
- In India, Denza is expected to be placed above BYD’s existing lineup of electric cars, with products at around Rs 80 lakh and above.
- BYD will be positioning its cars in Rs 20 to Rs 80 lakh space.
Denza could initially add two models in its portfolio, with high performance fastback and the D9 luxury MPV. Both will be brought to India as completely built-up units.
Denza Z9 GT: A remarkably powerful yet highly practical fastback.
The Z9 GT is Denza’s sporty fastback and comes in EV and PHEV configurations in global markets, but for India, we will get only the pure-electric version, as the numbers are staggering. It will weigh 2.9-tonnes and generate 1,156 Hp from three electric motors (One at the front & two at the rear), thus providing a 0-100 km/hr in 2.7 seconds and claimed top-speed of 270 km/hr.

However, prepare to pay the premium pricing for the Z9 GT as it could be priced somewhere between Rs 1.2 to Rs 1.5 crore mark.
Denza Z9 GT Tech
The Z9 GT will integrate cell-to-body construction that integrates the blade cells directly into vehicle’s structure, plus rear-wheel steering equipped with a crab-crawl ability, buttons to open and close power doors, with the inclusion of ADAS Level 2.
