The 'Hector Hawk' EV from MG, built on the Starlight 560 platform, has been spotted during testing.

The MG Hector Hawk has been spotted testing in EV versions on the Indian roads, as it is the first vehicle to be launched as ‘New-Energy Vehicle’ based on Wuling Starlight 560. This SUV is expected to be launched in PHEV and EV powertrains, going against the likes of Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XEV 9S. 

MG Hector Hawk Spied: What’s New?

The spied MG Hector Hawk shown in pictures is heavily camouflaged like the previous test versions, but some key design cues have been noticed. These include rectangular-shaped LED headlights with LED DRLs on top and bottom. 

The grille is blanked off which hints to be the EV version of the recently spotted model. The side profile is clean with a charging slot placed on the left-rear fender and comes with a simple alloy wheel design. The rear gets wraparound LED tail-lights, a rear windscreen wiper and roof-mounted spoiler was also seen on the test mule. 

MG Hector Hawk Expected Powertrains 

The MG Hector Hawk will be coming with PHEV and EV versions as both are expected to feature the same specs as the international model. 

PHEV: The Hector Hawk PHEV could also come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 20.5 kWh battery pack, generating a total output of 195 Hp and peak torque of 230 Nm with an all-electric range of 125 Km on a single charge. 

EV: The EV version of the Hector Hawk will be powered by a 69.2 kWh battery pack and generate a 201 HP of maximum power output integrated with a front-axle mounted electric motor, providing a CLTC-claimed range of 530 Km on a single charge. 

Like any other MG models, the Hector Hawk is expected to be positioned at a competitive price. In MG’s lineup, the PHEV version will be placed above the Hector, while the EV will sit at the top of the ZS EV.
