Tata Motors is giving a major upgrade to its mass-market electric hatchback. The upcoming Tiago EV facelift will be coming with a sharper design, thus taking inspiration from the recent updates seen on the Nexon EV and the Punch EV facelift. 

Technical Specs: Expect the same battery setups featuring a 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery pack options, but with an optimised battery management software that could provide enhanced real-world range of 250 km on a single charge.

Hyundai is all set to disrupt the compact EV segment with their Inster EV. It will be designed as a sporty yet aggressive tech-loaded micro-SUV, which will be directly going against the likes of Punch EV.

The upcoming Avinya will be the brand’s first premium electric car underpinned on a dedicated Gen 3 pure EV architecture and will be a combination of premium hatchback, MPV, and SUV. 

Technical Specs: The Avinya is expected to feature ultra-fast charging capabilities with expected battery packs of 75 kWh and 95 kWh which will provide minimum 500 Km of range on a single charge.

Expected Launch: June 2026 | Expected Price: Rs. 18- 21 Lakh 

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EBella will be the brand’s first electric car to be launched in mid-2026 in India. The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be coming with a variety of features such as Level 2 ADAS, and a premium 10.1-inch touchscreen. 

Technical Specs: It will be available with the same 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs as standard in Maruti e Vitara. Basically, it will be a rebadged version of the e Vitara featuring a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) generating 172 Bhp and peak torque of 189 Nm.

Tata Sierra which ruled the hearts of Indians in 90s is all set to make a grand comeback at the Indian roads. Tata will be smartly utilising the name of the legendary Sierra nameplate and will be introducing the Sierra in an all-electric avatar, apart from the ICE powertrains. 

Tata Motors have confirmed that Sierra EV is all set to launch in August 2026 in India, after the launch of ICE versions on November 25. Tata Sierra is underpinned primarily by Gen-2 Acti.EV platform which ensures better performance, impressive range figures, and better safety. 

#2 - Mahindra Thar.e

Expected Launch: August 2026 | Expected Price: Rs. 25 Lakh

The upcoming Mahindra Thar.e will be underpinned by the company's dedicated INGLA (Born EV) platform rather than a traditional ladder-frame chassis. The 5-door model will feature a boxy design with completely redesigned exteriors as compared to the ICE Thar. 

Technical Specs: It is expected to feature an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with a dual-motor setup and will come with advanced terrain-specific drive modes. It could come with 60 kWh and 70 kWh battery packs with a significant range of up to 500 Km.

Kia is also planning to launch the Syros EV in 2026 and could become India’s next mass-market electric SUV creating revolution in the field of EVs.
